• Guest facilities

We have three en-suite double rooms, each enjoying a superb view over a large swathe of Mid-Devon. Guests have exclusive use of a private sitting room, with a wood burner. There is a seating area in the garden in summer. A variety of massages and holistic therapies are available at a discounted rates.

  • The Bedrooms

Hillhead Farm is our home, and we are quite fond of it. The three double bedrooms are all accessed via a single staircase. All are en-suite, with walk-in showers, and share the same view, over the garden, our recently-planted wood, and the three river valleys beyond.

All rooms are centrally heated, have coffee & tea-making facilities, a radio, and a good complementary wi-fi connection – but no television.

We are open year-round, except for when we have other personal, family or business commitments. There is enough going on locally to keep you busy for a few days, but our greatest strength is that we are well-connected to the rest of the region, which us makes a great stopover location.

  • Culm is the largest room, at 14 square metres. It has a king size bed with what guests describe as an impressively comfortable mattress. Its triple arch window has individually designed, solid oak shutters that keep out the light at night, reduce oppressive heat during heatwaves, and help to keep heat in during cold snaps. It has an enclosed en-suite walk-in shower and toilet.

Standard cost: £ 135.00 per night for two, including breakfast: £125.00 for one person.

  • Creedy is the middle-sized room, at 13 square metres. Its modern king size bed has a metal frame and decent supportive mattress. Its old open fireplace will not support a fire, sadly. The bedroom sash window has blinds. So does the en-suite walk-in shower and toilet, though these are optional, as it is not overlooked.

Standard cost: £ 125.00 per night for two, including breakfast: £115.00 for one person.

  • Exe is the largest river but the smallest room, at 11 square metres. Its king size bed has a comfortable and supportive mattress. The room has an old open fireplace, though this will not currently support a fire. Its bedroom sash window has blinds. It has an enclosed en-suite  walk-in shower and toilet.

Standard cost: £ 115.00 per night for two people, including breakfast; £105.00 for one person.

  • The rest

Breakfast is normally served between 08:00 and 09:30, in the dining room, around a single, large table. Other times are sometimes possible, with advance notice.

We routinely offer a cooked breakfast, plus teas and coffees, juice or smoothies, toast, cereals and anything else we happen to have in stock.

The residents’ sitting room comes complete with a working wood burner in the winter. Guests are also welcome to sit in the garden in warmer weather. Once our alcohol license is granted, we will serve beers and ciders, wines by the glass or bottle, and a variety of single malts, in the sitting room, dining room and garden.

  • Co-host Tim is an internationally renowned beer judge and author. He offers tutored beer tastings that can feature a range of different beers sourced locally, or from around the UK, Belgium and elsewhere. These typically feature 5 or 6 beers, depending on the strength, with roughly a litre of beer included in the cost. Tim will talk you through the each beer, its style and background, and will likely meander off into random stories as the evening progresses. Tutored tastings require a minimum of two guests and must be booked in advance. The cost depends on the number attending, starting at £ 40 each for two people and reducing to £ 20 per head for 6 or more.  We have some local beer geeks who may be available to make up numbers. Enquiries via the contact form on this website.
